Burnaby RCMP is investigating a sexual assault that recently took place in a local Burnaby Park located near the 6500 block of Marlborough Avenue.
On February 6, 2026, just after 7:45pm, Burnaby Frontline officers responded to a report of a sexual assault at Lobley Park. The incident took place in the southwest corner near Grimmer Street and Dunblane Avenue.
The victim, a woman in her 30s, was walking through the park when she was grabbed from behind by an unknown man. The suspect put one hand over the victim’s mouth and the other hand he touched her groin and buttocks. The woman fought back against the man; he then ran off through the park towards Marlborough Avenue.
Integrated Police Dog Services also attended the park to help locate the man, unfortunately the suspect was not located.
“Keeping in mind this happened at a time of day when it is dark and the woman was grabbed from behind, we are sharing the best description that is currently available,” says Corporal Laura Hirst, Burnaby RCMP Media Relations Officer. “The man is described as 5’8 to 5’11, medium build, between 30 and 40 years old and was seen wearing all black.”
Burnaby RCMP’s High Risk Offender Unit is investigating this incident and taking all steps to identify this man.
Anyone with information about this incident can contact Burnaby RCMP at 604-646-9999.
