On March 12, 2026, just before 1 p.m., Burnaby RCMP responded to a report of a threat at Burnaby North Secondary School (751 Hammarskjold Drive).  Frontline officers arrived at the school within minutes of being dispatched and quickly worked to assess the safety of students and staff. The school was placed on lockdown temporarily as a precaution. Police have cleared the school and determined the threat was not credible.

This is the second such incident police have responded to this week at the school. Both remain under active investigation by Burnaby RCMP, and officers are working to identify those responsible.

We understand incidents of this nature cause great concern within our community and schools. Anyone in need of additional support is welcome to contact Burnaby RCMP Victim Services at 604-646-9700.
