Burnaby RCMP seeks dashcam video, witnesses after collision that has left a teenage boy in hospital

Burnaby RCMP is asking the public for dashcam video and witnesses after a serious motor vehicle collision involving an e-dirt bike that has left a teenage boy in hospital with serious injuries. 

On Tuesday, June 23, 2026, Burnaby RCMP frontline officers responded to a report of a serious motor vehicle collision involving an e-dirt bike westbound on Barnet Highway, near Cariboo Road North. The driver of the other vehicle remained on scene, and the 15-year-old e-dirt bike rider was transported to the hospital with serious injuries.

Burnaby RCMP’s Criminal Collision Investigation Team (CCIT) has assumed conduct of the investigation. The circumstances leading up to the collision are still to be determined.

“If you were in the area, east or west bound on Barnet Highway, and witnessed the collision or have dashcam video, please contact our investigators,” said Cpl. Mike Kalanj with Burnaby RCMP.

Police are asking anyone that may have witnessed the incident or anyone with dashcam video on Barnet Highway, from Cariboo Road North to Reed Point Way (Port Moody), between 2:00 p.m. and 2:30 p.m., on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, to contact Burnaby RCMP at 604-646-9999 and quote file number 2026-21877.
