The Burnaby RCMP is sharing a sketch of a suspect with the public, following an indecent act that took place in Central Park earlier this month.

The incident was reported to police on July 9, 2026, at 5 PM. The victim reported they had witnessed a man masturbating behind a tree between 8:30 AM and 9:30 AM, at a picnic area in the northwest section of the park.

Police have been pursuing a number of investigative avenues to collect evidence and identify the suspect and are now sharing a composite sketch and description as part of those ongoing efforts.

The suspect is described as a Black male in his late 20’s to early 30’s, approximately 6 feet tall, with an average build. At the time, the suspect was wearing a white hoodie, black pants, and a black baseball cap.

“We are asking anyone who may recognize the sketch or have information about the suspect to contact police,” said Media Relations Officer Cpl. Laura Hirst. “The victim in this case did the right thing by contacting us. We want to encourage everyone to reach out to us to report any incidents of this nature, or any suspicious activity they may encounter.”

Burnaby RCMP continues to investigate two other reports of indecent acts in the park from the same week, and officers have been conducting enhanced patrols in the area. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Burnaby RCMP Investigative Support Team at 604-646-9999 and reference Burnaby RCMP File 2026-23928.
