Burnaby RCMP have arrested a 47-year-old Burnaby man in relation to a series of mischief over the past few weeks at a North Burnaby parkade, where many vehicles were vandalized.

On Monday, October 5, 2026, just before 6:30 p.m., Burnaby RCMP frontline officers responded to multiple reports of a man smashing vehicle windows in a parkade at Brentwood Mall. When police arrived, they conducted extensive patrols in the parkade and the area; however, the suspect had already fled the scene.

While investigators were working to identify the suspect, a second incident occurred.

On Saturday, October 24, 2026, just before 12:30 a.m., Burnaby RCMP received reports of a man smashing windows with a sledgehammer in a parkade at Brentwood Mall.

Police arrived on scene within minutes and took the suspect into custody without incident.

“These two incidents caused significant damage and unnecessary stress for many vehicle owners,” said Cpl. Mike Kalanj with the Burnaby RCMP. “The arrest is an important step, and our investigation remains ongoing as we move toward charge approval.”

The investigation is ongoing.
