Man charged in connection with break and enter investigation

A Campbell River man has been charged following an RCMP investigation into a break and enter that occurred at the Centennial Pool on July 24, 2026.

As a result of the investigation, Derek Glenn Domeij has been charged with one count of break and enter, contrary to section 348(1)(a) of the Criminal Code. Mr. Domeij was arrested on August 25, 2026, and has since been detained by the Court. His next court appearance is scheduled for September 14, 2026. 

The investigation involved several police resources, including the RCMP Forensic Identification Section, which assisted investigators in identifying a suspect.

"While we are pleased to have advanced this investigation, our work is far from over," said Inspector Jeff Preston, Officer in Charge of the Campbell River RCMP. "Property crime, including break and enters, continues to be a concern in our community. Our officers remain focused on investigating these offences and identifying those responsible. We are committed to working diligently to bring offenders before the courts and help improve public safety."

The Campbell River RCMP continue to investigate several break and enter incidents that have occurred throughout the city over recent months. Police encourage residents and business owners to remain vigilant, secure their properties, and report any suspicious activity.
