Drugs, cash seized in Chetwynd following investigation

Chetwynd RCMP have made a significant drug seizure following the execution of a pair of search warrants at two residences on September 19, 2026.

The investigation began earlier that week and culminated with police officers searching residences on the 5100-block of 42 Street Northeast and on the 4700-block of Wabi Crescent.

While police officers were at these locations, five adults were taken into custody. Four were subsequently determined to be uninvolved with the investigation, and the fifth was released from custody without process, pending the results from the National Laboratory and future charge approval by the Public Prosecution Service of Canada.

In total, investigators seized:

• approximately $7000 in cash
• over 10 grams of suspected cocaine
• more than 15 grams of suspected psilocybin
• assorted prescription drugs
• drug trafficking paraphernalia
• a vehicle

“This was excellent work undertaken by our constables. Their initiative and determination directly contribute to public safety by disrupting the drug trade and the harm it brings to our community,” states Corporal Bayden Austring, Operations Support Officer for Chetwynd RCMP.

This investigation remains ongoing.
