Chilliwack RCMP respond to sudden death in Promontory

Chilliwack RCMP frontline officers responded to a sudden death Monday morning in the Promontory neighbourhood.

On March 16, 2026, at approximately 7:42 a.m., Chilliwack RCMP received several reports from BC Emergency Health Services of gunshots heard in the Promontory area, along with reports that an adult man was lying in the roadway on Rockwood Drive.

Officers attended and located a deceased 30-year-old man. Police quickly determined the incident was contained and that no other individuals were injured. Rockwood Drive was closed for approximately two hours as officers conducted their investigation and the BC Coroner’s Officer attended the scene.

Criminality is not believed to be a factor. The BC Coroners Service has taken conduct of the investigation. Due to the sensitive nature of this incident, no further information will be released at this time.

Chilliwack RCMP Victim Services has been engaged to support residents in the neighbourhood.
