Police responded to a report of a break and enter at a residence located on Princess Avenue. The man was confronted by the homeowner and left the property on foot. Shortly afterward, a man matching the suspect description was located nearby following a complaint from a different property owner regarding inappropriate behaviour in their yard. The interaction escalated into a physical altercation. The man was arrested and police confirmed that no one was injured.
Police received a report of two men in a park near Elm Drive allegedly in possession of what appeared to be a firearm. Officers attended and located a man well known to police who was found in possession of an axe and an imitation firearm, contrary to his court conditions. The man was arrested by officers and held for court. The weapons were seized and will not be returned.
A man was arrested following a reported theft at a business on Luckakuck Way. During the incident, the man allegedly assaulted a Loss Prevention Officer, fortunately there were no injuries. Officers learned the man was also breaching his court‑imposed conditions. He was held for court.
Police responded to a report of rocks being thrown at a complainant’s vehicle at a restaurant on Luckakuck Way, resulting in a smashed window. It was further reported that one of the involved parties had assaulted another patron. Upon arrival, officers located a large group of people outside of the restaurant, with several involved parties fleeing on foot. Two individuals were stopped, identified as being responsible, and arrested. The investigation remains ongoing.
While on patrol, an officer observed a male known to have an outstanding warrant driving near Young Road and Cheam Avenue but temporarily lost sight of the vehicle. A second officer later located the vehicle near Hazel Street and First Avenue and conducted a traffic stop. The driver was confirmed to be the wanted man and was arrested on an unendorsed warrant. He was held for court.
An officer observed a male smoking what appeared to be illicit substances near the intersection of First Avenue and Spadina Avenue. The male was arrested, and a search revealed several items consistent with drug trafficking which were seized.
A vehicle was reported stolen from Yale Road with bank cards and identification left inside, the vehicle has been left unlocked. It was later recovered by police on Young Road unoccupied with no damage. The investigation is ongoing with assistance from the Forensic Identification Services. Police remind the public to never leave keys or valuables inside an unattended vehicle, regardless of how long you may be away from the vehicle.
An officer conducted a traffic stop on Yale Road and observed illegal cigarettes inside the vehicle. Further investigation revealed a collapsible baton and quantities of methamphetamine and fentanyl consistent with drug trafficking. The occupants were arrested and confirmed to be from out of town. The vehicle was determined to be unsafe and sent for inspection.
