During National Volunteer Week, April 19 – 25, 2024, the Chilliwack RCMP would like to thank and acknowledge the dedicated crime prevention volunteers who contribute their time and efforts to enhance community safety.

Crime prevention initiatives play a pivotal role in maintaining public safety, and the Chilliwack RCMP recognizes the invaluable support provided by crime prevention volunteers in our community. Their service contributes to the level of public safety and peace of mind enjoyed by the residents of the City of Chilliwack.

Chilliwack Crime Prevention Services serves as a wealth of information and resources, offering a range of educational programs, workshops, and lectures aimed at empowering individuals and fostering a safer community environment.

“We are grateful to the dedicated volunteers who selflessly donate their time”, says Cpl. Carmen Kiener. “Each day you help support the work of the RCMP and your contributions do not go unnoticed, your commitment to public service is an inspiration to us all.”

Volunteers offer valuable services to the community through the following programs:

Block Watch – Neighbours on a block form a cohesive communication chain, aided by a block map detailing names, telephone numbers and addresses. Together, they watch over each other’s homes and promptly report any suspicious activity to the police.

Speed Watch – This initiative addresses speeding and traffic concerns within the community through a multifaceted approach including community awareness campaigns, neighbourhood action and data collection.

City Watch – Working under the guidance of the Chilliwack RCMP, City Watch volunteers patrol designated areas in marked vehicles, serving as an additional set of eyes and ears for the RCMP.

For individuals interested in learning more about these programs or joining our team of dedicated volunteers, we invite you to visit us at Crime Prevention Services. (English only)
