Chilliwack RCMP seek witnesses in ongoing investigation

Chilliwack RCMP are asking for the public’s assistance as officers continue to investigate an alleged assault that occurred in Promontory on Sunday August 16^th, 2026.

On August 16^th at 8:20 pm officers responded to a report of a suspicious occurrence in the Thornton Creek nature trail area of Promontory.  Investigation lead police to believe an assault had occurred and several individuals who were in the area at the time may have witnessed the incident.  

Chilliwack RCMP is asking anyone who was in the area of the Thornton Creek nature trail between 7:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. to contact the Chilliwack RCMP and reference file # 2026-36202. 

This is believed to be an isolated incident and there is no ongoing risk to the public at this time.
