Recovered stolen truck and trailer

While conducting proactive patrols on Woodbine Street, officers observed a truck towing a trailer park on the street while two occupants entered a nearby residence. After conducting checks, police confirmed the truck had been reported stolen from Agassiz several days earlier, and the trailer had been reported stolen that same day from Banford Road in Chilliwack. As officers secured the stolen property, the driver of the truck exited the residence and was arrested for investigation. The man was found in possession of break-in tools and an airsoft pistol, both contrary to his probation conditions. The man was held in custody for court. The trailer was returned to its owner, while the truck was seized for further investigation as officers determine who else may have been involved.

Stolen travel trailer recovered

A travel trailer was reported stolen from a property on McGuire Road with several tools left behind, believed to be used by the suspects. The trailer was recovered two days later in Logan Lake with no reported damage. The owner was notified and arrangements were made for its return. It is still unknown why the trailer was in Logan Lake and the investigation continues.

Replica firearms incident serves as reminder

While attending an unrelated call, officers encountered a man in possession of three replica airsoft firearms. As officers separated him from the items, he retrieved a fourth replica revolver and presented it toward police. Officers quickly and safely took control of all four replica firearms. The man appeared to believe his actions were a joke and did not understand the seriousness of the situation. He was cautioned, and the items were seized. Police remind the public that replica and airsoft firearms can look very similar to real firearms. When these items are displayed in a careless or threatening manner, it can be difficult for others, including police, to tell the difference and may result in a police response to ensure everyone's safety.

Investigation follows report of possible firearm on Yale Road

A concerned citizen reported hearing two gunshot-like noises during a confrontation with a man on Yale Road. The man had been using an air horn, and the complainant approached the man, requesting he stop making so much noise. The complainant alleged the man then pointed an object into the air before a loud bang was heard and the man fled. This report resulted in a large police presence in the area. Officers conducted extensive patrols, including the assistance of the police dog, but were unable to locate the suspect or find any evidence that a firearm had been used. The complainant did not see an actual firearm, declined to provide a statement, and did not wish to pursue charges, limiting investigators' ability to determine exactly what occurred. No injuries were reported, and no similar incidents were reported.

Wildfire Act violation

Officers attended Columbia Valley Road after the Fire Department reported an active campfire despite current campfire prohibitions due to wildfire risk. Police located those responsible and issued a violation ticket under the Wildfire Act. With wildfire concerns remaining high and outdoor recreation continuing throughout the summer, residents and visitors are reminded to follow all campfire restrictions and fire bans to help protect the community and surrounding forests.
