Occupied stolen vehicle located, arrest made

A vehicle reported stolen from a property on Chilliwack Lake Road was quickly recovered after the owner provided officers with GPS tracking information. Police located the vehicle in the Chilliwack Mountain area with a man and woman inside. Officers arrested both occupants during the investigation and determined the woman had no involvement in the alleged theft. The man has been released on strict conditions and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date. 

Multiple stolen vehicles recovered during ongoing investigation

In an unrelated vehicle theft investigation, Chilliwack RCMP received a report of a utility trailer and ATV stolen from a residence on Cottonwood Court. Investigation led police to Broadway Street. The trailer and ATV were not located, however, officers discovered a different stolen vehicle parked behind a residence in the area. The vehicle had been reported stolen from Fletcher Street two days earlier. The homeowner was not connected to the stolen vehicle and cooperated with police in its recovery. During the investigation, officers located a licence plate associated with yet another stolen vehicle that had recently been recovered on Woodbine Street. Later that day, the stolen trailer and ATV from the initial report were recovered on Ryder Lake Road and held by police for investigation. One suspect has been arrested and remains in custody while the investigation continues.

Driver fails to stop for police following reports of shots fired

Chilliwack RCMP responded to a report of possible gunshots heard on Bench Forest Service Road. While in the area, officers attempted to stop a vehicle of interest, which drove away from the area without stopping. The registered owner of the vehicle was later located and detained as part of the ongoing investigation. The vehicle was impounded and the registered owner received multiple owner liability violation tickets, including Driving Without Due Care and Attention ($368) and Failing to Stop for Police ($512). Police were unable to locate any evidence that shots had been fired, and no additional reports were received.

Youth receives multiple tickets for dangerous e-dirt bike riding

An officer observed an e-dirt bike travelling on Prairie Central Road while performing wheelies and reaching high speeds. A traffic stop was conducted, and the rider was identified as a youth holding a learner's licence. The youth received several violation tickets, including Driving Contrary to Restrictions ($109), Driving Without Insurance ($598), and Speeding ($138), totalling nearly $850. The youth's parents attended and took custody of both the rider and the bike. Police remind the public that e-dirt bikes are prohibited from operating on public roadways in British Columbia.

Man arrested for breaching 24 hour curfew

Police responded to a report of a man carrying and swinging a stick on Princess Avenue. The caller reported feeling threatened and unsafe. Officers located a man matching the description who was in possession of a stick. During the investigation, officers determined no threats had been made. However, police records checks revealed the man was subject to a 24-hour curfew and was in breach of those conditions. The man was arrested and held in custody for his next court appearance.
