Comox Valley RCMP would like to remind the community that the 40km/h speed reduction initiative is now in effect where signage has been installed. The approved a 40 km/h speed limit changes apply 24/7, year-round.  This program will continue to be phased in on residential roadways in the Courtney area.

The City of Courtenay has installed the 40km/h signs on roads in a 500-meter radius around schools, as well as most local roads. The RCMP will begin conducting increased enforcement in the areas of these speed limit and traffic flow changes.

“Pay attention to the new traffic control signage, slow down and give yourself extra time to get to your destination,” said Inspector Mercer, Officer in Charge of the Comox Valley RCMP.
