Comox Valley RCMP seek assistance to identify driver

Police are releasing a photo in an effort to identify the driver of a truck involved in damaging the Pride-themed rainbow crosswalk on 5th Street at Duncan Avenue in Courtenay. The incident occurred on August 23, 2025, at approximately 6:20 p.m.

The video shows a pickup truck driving onto the crosswalk, causing visible damage.

Investigators are seeking to identify and speak with the driver, the passenger, and anyone who may have witnessed the event or has information that could assist the investigation.

“Until we have had an opportunity to speak with the driver, we cannot speculate on the motivation behind this incident,” said Cst. Monika Terragni, Media Relations Officer, Comox Valley RCMP. “We are asking anyone with information to come forward so we can understand what took place.”
