Coquitlam RCMP is seeking witnesses or dash cam footage to an alleged hit and run collision involving a pedestrian at Atlantic Avenue and The High Street in Coquitlam.
On March 3, 2026, shortly after 1:00 p.m., Coquitlam RCMP responded to a single vehicle collision involving a pedestrian at Atlantic Avenue and The High Street in Coquitlam. While enroute, officers were advised the driver who initially stopped had since driven away in a Red SUV with an unknown licence plate. Officers conducted patrols for the vehicle, but it was not located.
According to a witness, the pedestrian was crossing in a crosswalk when she was struck by the Red SUV. The witnesses advised the driver initially stopped and got out of her vehicle and allegedly told the witness she was going to move her SUV but upon returning to it she drove away.
The pedestrian was transported to a local area hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
“The driver involved in this incident knows they struck this pedestrian. In addition to seeking witnesses or dash cam footage, we are asking this driver to do the right thing and contact police,” says Sergeant Adriana O’Malley, Coquitlam RCMP Media Relations Officer.
The driver was described as:
- Female
- 30 to 40 years of age
- Chubby
- Possibly Middle Eastern
- Wearing a form of cultural head dress
Coquitlam RCMP frontline has conduct of this active and ongoing investigation.
Anyone who was in the area of Atlantic Avenue and The High Street in Coquitlam between 1:00 p.m. and 1:10 p.m. and may have witnessed or have dash came of this incident is asked to contact Coquitlam RCMP at 604-945-1550 and quote file number 2026-5372.
