Coquitlam RCMP seeking witnesses or dash cam footage to alleged assault with a weapon at Shaughnessy Street and Lougheed Highway, Port Coquitlam.

On May 2, 2026, Coquitlam RCMP received a report of an alleged assault with a weapon at Shaughnessy Street and Lougheed Highway in Port Coquitlam.

According to the victim he was walking near the intersection when he observed a group of youths jaywalking through traffic. When the victim confronted the youths about their behaviour, one of them challenged him to a fight at which point a second one sprayed him in the face with a noxious substance. The five youths then ran from the area.

The victim advised the incident took place at approximately 9:00 p.m. but he was unable to report it until he returned home around 9:30 p.m. The victim advised the intersection was busy at the time, but no one stopped.

Coquitlam RCMP is asking anyone who was in the area between 8:50 p.m. to 9:10 p.m. and may have witnessed the incident or have dash cam footage to contact Coquitlam RCMP at 604-945-1550 and quote file number 2026-10871.
