BC RCMP: Lower Mainland District
The Lower Mainland District (LMD) RCMP and Integrated Teams cover 30,969 square kilometres from Pemberton to Boston Bar and as far south as the United States border.
The LMD polices a diverse geographic area that includes international borders, mountains and bodies of water within urban and rural settings. The LMD has 12 detachments in 28 communities. Numerous Indigenous communities are also served by the LMD RCMP.
RCMP detachments and six municipal policing partners receive specialized policing support from the five LMD Integrated Teams:
- Integrated Homicide Investigative Team (IHIT),
- Lower Mainland District Integrated Emergency Response Team (LMD IERT),
- Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (ICARS),
- Lower Mainland District Integrated Forensic Identification Services (LMD IFIS) and the
- Lower Mainland District Integrated Police Dog Service (LMD IPDS).
The six municipal partners include: Abbotsford, Delta, New Westminster, Port Moody, West Vancouver and Surrey.
Each detachment commander reports to the local council and works with citizens to establish and prioritize law enforcement objectives. Our employees also work daily with our counterparts in the many municipal and provincial police agencies within the LMD. We are connected to our communities, to community leaders, to social services, to support groups, to school boards and to citizens.
The LMD and Integrated Teams are a mix of police officers and civilians who are committed to our communities and to meeting policing needs to ensure a safe Canada.
