Police are investigating after a utility terrain vehicle (UTV), otherwise known as a side-by-side, rolled and ejected several occupants last week.
On June 4, 2026, at 1:03 p.m., the Dawson Creek RCMP were called to a report of a UTV rollover on the 13700-block of 207 Road in Pouce Coupe. Five young children were in the vehicle when the driver lost control resulting in the vehicle rolling several times over a considerable distance. An 8-year-old boy was pronounced deceased at the scene while the driver, a 7-year-old girl, was airlifted to hospital in critical condition.
The three other occupants suffered minor injuries.
Despite the best efforts of medical personnel, the 7-year-old girl later succumbed to her injuries in hospital.
“As a parent, I cannot fathom the unimaginable and tragic loss these families have suffered,” said Staff Sergeant Kris Clark of the BC RCMP. “Our hearts go out to everyone who was impacted by this unthinkable event.”
