Elk Valley RCMP respond to fatal motor vehicle collision on Hwy 3

On March 13, 2026 at 7:30 am Elk Valley RCMP received a report of a head on motor vehicle collision on Highway 3 in Hosmer, BC. Frontline officers responded along with BC Ambulance and Fernie Fire Rescue. 

The driver of one of the vehicles was transported to Elk Valley Hospital in stable condition but the other driver was confirmed to have died as a result of the collision. 

The highway was closed for approximately five and a half hours. 

While the investigation is ongoing there is no suspicious activity suspected. 

Elk Valley RCMP wish to express our condolences to the family, and everyone impacted by this incident.
