On January 6, 2026 the Fort St John Fire Rescue and Fort St John RCMP responded to a two vehicle collision on Highway 97. As a result of the collision the Highway was closed to traffic in both directions for approximately 5 hours. Two persons were transported to the Fort St John Hospital with non life threatening injuries. The investigation into the collision is on going. Highway 97 has since re-opened to traffic in both directions.
