The Fort St John RCMP wants to thank the community and let everyone know the BBQ fundraiser was a HUGE success!

On February 12, 2026, the Fort St John RCMP detachment invited the community to attend a BBQ fundraiser on Saturday, February 14 in support of the community of Tumbler Ridge and the affected families of the school shooting on February 10th.  Over $30,000.00 was donated by Fort St John residents and businesses at the fundraiser.  Donations have continued to come in and the current total is over $40,000 raised as of Wednesday, February 18th.   

There was also a large card that was created for Fort St John community members to sign which will be send to Tumbler Ridge along with the financial support. 

Event organizer, Jeannie Whitford-Bonin, and the entire Fort St John RCMP and would like to express a huge Thank You to the 26 volunteers who donated their time and to the local Fort St John Businesses that donated food, bbq’s, tents and portable washroom facilities to the success of the fundraiser. 

“I want to thank everyone who stepped up for this fundraiser. The generosity shown by our residents, volunteers, and businesses is truly remarkable," said Sergeant Jaime Moffat, A/Officer in Charge, Fort St. John RCMP.  "Your support will make a meaningful difference for the Tumbler Ridge community during a tragic time, and we are grateful to serve a region that stands together so strongly.”

Over 600 hamburgers were cooked and enjoyed by those who attended.

If anyone else wishes to donate, cash and cheques are being accepted at the Fort St John RCMP detachment front counter.  E-transfers are also being accepted at ediv-fsj-scarlettrecclub@rcmp-grc.gc.ca.
