Fort St John RCMP File # 26-7333

On August 14, 2026, at approximately 10:09 p.m., Fort St. John RCMP received multiple reports of shots fired in the 8800 block of 107A Avenue.

The investigation remains in its early stages, and no suspects have been identified at this time.

The Fort St. John RCMP Serious Crime Unit (SCU) has assumed conduct of the investigation. Investigators have identified multiple scenes related to the incident and are continuing to gather evidence. Based on information obtained thus far, police believe this to be a targeted incident.

This occurrence marks the third shooting investigated in Fort St. John since July 22, 2026. The recent increase in firearm-related incidents is a significant concern for police. While investigators continue to examine the circumstances surrounding each event, the repeated use of firearms in our community presents an unacceptable risk to public safety and will continue to be a major investigative priority.

In response to these incidents, Fort St. John RCMP frontline officers, the Street Enforcement Team (SET), and the Serious Crime Unit (SCU) are working collaboratively to identify and apprehend those responsible, disrupt criminal activity contributing to firearm violence, and prevent further incidents. Investigators are actively pursuing all available leads.

"The safety of our community remains our highest priority," said Sgt. Jaime Moffat of the Fort St. John RCMP. "We recognize the concern these incidents cause and want the public to know that significant resources are being dedicated to identifying those responsible and preventing further violence."

The Fort St. John RCMP encourages anyone with information related to this incident, or any of the recent firearm-related offences, to contact the Fort St. John RCMP at 250-787-8100. Police are particularly interested in obtaining surveillance footage or dash camera video that may assist investigators.
