Fort St. John RCMP provide update on August 14, 2026 shooting investigation

Fort St. John RCMP continue to investigate a shooting that occurred on August 14, 2026, in the 8800 block of 107A Avenue.

Investigators have confirmed that three individuals sustained gunshot wounds as a result of this incident. The shooting occurred inside a residence. All three individuals were transported for medical treatment and are currently reported to be in stable condition.

The Fort St. John RCMP Serious Crime Unit (SCU) has assumed conduct of the investigation. As part of the ongoing investigation, police executed a search warrant at the residence involved and have seized multiple vehicles for forensic examination.

At this time, no suspects have been identified. The investigation remains active and officers continue to pursue all available investigative avenues.

This incident marks the third shooting in Fort St. John in as many weeks. The recent increase in firearm-related violence is of significant concern to both police and community members. While investigators believe these incidents to be targeted, the repeated use of firearms in our community creates an unacceptable risk to public safety. These incidents affect not only those directly involved, but also neighbours, families, and members of the public who rightfully expect to feel safe in their homes and neighbourhoods.

In response, frontline officers, the Street Enforcement Team (SET), and the Serious Crime Unit (SCU) are working collaboratively to identify those responsible, disrupt criminal activity contributing to these incidents, and prevent further violence in the community.

"Three shootings in as many weeks is deeply concerning for our community and for our police officers who are working tirelessly to investigate these incidents," said Sergeant Jaime Moffat of the Fort St. John RCMP. "While these incidents appear to be targeted, that does not diminish the risk to public safety. The continued use of firearms in our community is unacceptable, and we are dedicating significant investigative and enforcement resources to identifying those responsible and preventing further violence. We need the public's help. If you see something that doesn't seem right, report it. Information that may appear insignificant today could be the missing piece investigators need, and early reporting of suspicious or concerning activity may help prevent future incidents from occurring."
