Break and enter investigation leads to multiple arrests and recovery of stolen property

Boston Bar RCMP responded to a reported break and enter at a property along the Trans-Canada Highway. Officers located several individuals near the scene and, with the assistance of Police Dog Services, tracked and arrested two suspects who were found on the property and could not provide an explanation for being there. During the investigation, officers seized a vehicle, trailer, and ATV associated to the suspects. Police later determined the ATV had been stolen approximately eight years earlier and that the truck had been reported stolen from Chilliwack two weeks prior. The two suspects are expected to appear in court at a later date and charges are pending, subject to review and approval by the BC Prosecutions Service.

Vehicle thefts and thefts from vehicles

Officers responded to several thefts from vehicles throughout the community. Incidents included stolen stereo equipment from an unlocked vehicle on Willow Street, gaming equipment taken from a vehicle on Douglas Street, personal items stolen from a locked vehicle on Park Street, and numerous bags and personal belongings taken from an unlocked vehicle on 3rd Avenue.

Additionally, a vehicle stolen from Fraser Avenue was recovered later the same day in Hope. Investigators are also investigating after a motorhome was reported stolen from a storage yard on Flood-Hope Road.

Police remind residents to lock their vehicles, remove valuables, and park in well-lit areas whenever possible, particularly overnight.

Cargo trailer stolen from Ross Road

Police are investigating the theft of an enclosed white cargo trailer from a property on Ross Road. Employees arriving for work discovered the trailer missing and damage to a gate on the property. Evidence suggests the trailer was towed from the scene by another vehicle. The trailer remains outstanding and the investigation is ongoing.

Proactive patrols remove impaired drivers

Several impaired drivers were removed from the road as a result of proactive patrols by our officers. Investigations on Old Hope-Princeton Way, Union Bar Road, Kawkawa Lake Road, and in downtown Hope resulted in Immediate Roadside Prohibitions being issued. In one instance, officers also discovered the driver did not possess a valid licence and observed drug paraphernalia within the vehicle.
