About Kamloops RCMP

The Kamloops City RCMP Detachment is one of the largest in the province of British Columbia.

Located in the B.C. RCMP’s Southeast District, its Officer in Charge is Superintendent Jeff Pelley.

The Kamloops RCMP Detachment is committed to maintaining and enhancing the safety of a large and growing city, through a series of strategic priorities: Reduce and Prevent the Impact of Crime, Reduce Crime through Community Collaboration, and Intervention and Road Safety. These priorities are actioned with an integrated approach between units and community partner agencies.

By targeting high-crime areas, implementing proactive policing tactics, and fostering community partnerships, the Kamloops RCMP Detachment has seen a notable decrease in various criminal activities. Its dedication to public safety, coupled with innovative and strategic approaches, has yielded tangible results, helping to instill confidence in residents and strengthening trust in law enforcement.

From the prevention side, the detachment is very proactive in helping residents protect themselves from being victimized by crime. In partnership with the City of Kamloops, the Community Policing Unit operates many crime prevention programs, a number of which are focused on protecting businesses, seniors, and youth. Volunteer programs are a large part of the section’s initiatives, which wouldn’t be nearly as successful without the countless hours put in by these outstanding citizens.

The Kamloops RCMP Detachment continues to staff and develop new positions while enhancing its frontline policing support and complement. The Integrated Crisis Response Team remains fully staffed and new positions have been identified to support investigations by increasing establishments within the Crime Reduction Unit, Sex Crimes Unit, Serious Crime Unit, and General Investigation Support Team.

Moving forward, the Kamloops RCMP Detachment remains committed to building upon these achievements and working to ensure the city’s neighbourhoods and business areas continue to thrive through enhancements made to an already safe community.
