Heavy police presence could be seen throughout the city and outlying areas due to an unfolding police operation that spanned several hours yesterday.

The Kamloops RCMP Detachment frontline officers along with the South East District Emergency Response Team was visible yesterday afternoon near the 700-block Seymour Street.  An investigation into a possible abduction prompted police to utilize RCMP Air Services, along with the South East District ERT and several Kamloops RCMP Detachment support units including the Serious Crime Unit and General Investigation Support Team, Targeted Enforcement Unit and the Crime Reduction Unit.

On December 22, 2025, around noon police received a report of a possible abduction that occurred in the Dallas area where a woman was observed being forced into a vehicle by a man.  The vehicle fled East and was later re-acquired at a gas station in the 1200-block of Dallas Drive.   A coordinated effort led to the driver being arrested without incident and the woman found safe.

“This was a swift response to a serious report of a person being abducted,” said Superintendent Jeff Pelley, Officer in Charge of the Kamloops RCMP Detachment.  “This took significant coordination with many support units assisting in a dynamic unfolding event to bring this to a safe conclusion.”

One man was arrested and held in custody with charge recommendations anticipated.  As this investigation is still ongoing no further information will be released. Anyone who may have witnessed this or has information related to this incident is asked to contact the Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000 and cite file 2025-42110.
