Kamloops RCMP Investigate Sudden Death in West End Neighbourhood

The Kamloops RCMP Detachment is investigating the sudden death of Muhammad “Ash” Zafar, located in the city’s West End neighbourhood.
On Monday January 5, 2026, frontline officers responded to a residence on Dalgleish Drive for a check‑wellbeing call. Upon arrival, police located a deceased man inside the home. The area remains secured as investigators continue to examine the scene.
Based on the evidence gathered to date, police are treating the investigation as a homicide. At this time, the circumstances appear to be isolated, and there is no indication of any ongoing risk to the public.
The Kamloops RCMP Serious Crime Unit has assumed conduct of the investigation and is working to establish a timeline of Mr. Zafar’s movements and interactions leading up to his death.
“We are asking anyone who had recent contact with Mr. Zafar, or who may have information about his social network, activities, or associates, to reach out to investigators,” said Staff Sergeant Kevin McIntyre of the Kamloops RCMP. “Even small details can assist us in understanding the events leading up to this incident.”
Police are specifically seeking:
- Individuals who saw or spoke with Muhammad “Ash” Zafar between January 2 and January 5, 2026
- Anyone who observed unusual activity in the Dalgleish Drive / West End area
- Members of Mr. Zafar’s social or professional circles who may have relevant information that have not yet spoken with police
