File: 2026-1404 Update

The investigation into a downtown fire is being investigated as suspicious.

On January 14, 2026, Kamloops frontline officers responded to assist Kamloops Fire Rescue with a fire in the 400-block of Victoria Street.  That fire has now been determined as suspicious and is being investigated as an arson.

“The Kamloops RCMP Detachment General Investigation Support Team is investigating the fire along with investigators from Kamloops Fire Rescue,” said Corporal Dana Napier, Kamloops RCMP Detachment spokesperson.  “Investigators are looking specifically for video of the area between 10:00 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. on January 14, 2026, both in the front and back of the building, additionally if anyone has footage of the fire itself.”

The cause of the fire does not appear to have been accidentally set.  Police are looking to speak with anyone who may have information or video footage of the time leading up to the fire or the fire itself. The public is encouraged to call the Kamloops RCMP Detachment at 250-828-3000 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) and cite file 2026-1404.
