Large police presence in Northshore neighbourhood

Multiple frontline police are currently on scene at a residence on Northshore due to a report of man with a gun.

On April 14, 2026, at approximately 5:45 a.m. frontline police received a report of a man with a gun who may be allegedly suffering from a mental health crisis.  Multiple police along with Police Dog Services and the Emergency Response Team are currently in the Tranquille Road and 13th Street area.

“Police have apprehended one man and are continuing to investigate the firearm allegations,” said Corporal Dana Napier, spokesperson for the Kamloops RCMP. “We are asking the public to please avoid the area at this time to allow investigators space to work.”

Emergency Health Services is also in the area ready to respond.  The Kamloops RCMP Detachment would like to thank the public for their cooperation as this investigation unfolds.
