Kamloops RCMP Detachment frontline police along with Police Dog Services continue to investigate a threat that resulted in the courts being evacuated in downtown Kamloops.

On Monday July 6, 2026, just before 9:30 a.m. police were alerted to a threat to the Kamloops Law Courts.  The courthouse was evacuated, out of an abundance of caution and people were asked to avoid the area.

“Investigators have now cleared from the Kamloops Law Courts,” said spokesperson Corporal Dana Napier of the Kamloops RCMP Detachment.  “The investigation continues, however, at this time the threat lacks credibility”.

The Kamloops RCMP Detachment would like to thank the public for their cooperation throughout the incident and the BC Sheriff Service for their assistance and collaboration.

Anyone with information related to this threat is asked to call the Kamloops RCMP Detachment at 250-838-3000 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) and cite file 2026-21845.
