The alleged theft of an RCMP bait vehicle and a coordinated response resulted in two men being arrested.

On June 24, 2026, just after 4:30 p.m. CRU officers from the Kamloops RCMP Detachment responded to a bait car activation and initiated a coordinated response to safely stop the vehicle and arrest the two occupants.

“The Kamloops RCMP Detachment Crime Reduction Unit continue to utilize targeted enforcement strategies to identify and arrest individuals who pose ongoing risk to public safety,” said Superintendent Jeff Pelley, Officer in Charge of the Kamloops RCMP Detachment.  “The deployment of bait vehicles is an effective tool in reducing property crime and holding repeat offenders accountable.  The swift and safe arrest of these individuals reflects the professionalism and coordinated efforts of our officers."

Both men were held in custody and brought before the court on several charges including theft of a motor vehicle and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.
