Police Service Dog Neeka is retiring

Neeka is hanging up her harness and saying goodbye to police work, to transition to a well-earned retirement at a family home in Kamloops.

Born in 2020, Neeka graduated from the Police Dog Service Training Centre in Alberta before joining the Kamloops RCMP Detachment in 2021.  Neeka also served on the Southeast District Emergency Response Team as part of her duties.

“Neeka is retiring due to medical reasons and will join the Neds Wish program supporting medical needs into retirement," said Corporal Steve Prior, Police Dog Service handler for Neeka.  “We will be celebrating all of Neeka’s great work with her favourite treat, a bagel.”

Neeka had a pawsitively great time serving the city of Kamloops and the Southeast District. The Kamloops RCMP Detachment would like to thank Neeka for all her hard work and wish her well in her retirement, as Arlo a prospective “recruit” attends training camp aspiring to fulfill the vacancy Neeka leaves behind.
