Downtown altercation sends one to hospital

Kamloops RCMP Detachment respond to an alleged assault that sent one man to hospital.

In the early hours of August 14, near the 300-block of Victoria Street a man was assaulted with a weapon which resulted in non-life-threatening injuries and the man being transported to the hospital by BC Ambulance.  The incident originated from an interaction between the victim and another person not involved in the alleged assault.

“In an effort to advance the investigation, police are asking witness to come forward in helping to identify the alleged suspect who was described as a non-white man with a cane wearing a blue and white shirt,” said Corporal Dana Napier, spokesperson for the Kamloops RCMP Detachment.

Anyone with video, dash camera footage or who may have witnessed the incident which occurred just before 1:30 a.m. is asked to call the Kamloops RCMP Detachment at 250-828-3000 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) and cite file 2026-26794.
