Through the week of August 4-7, the Kamloops RCMP Detachment Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) arrested four people and recovered a vehicle that had been reported as stolen.

On August 4, 2026, the Kamloops RCMP Detachment CRU officers arrested Kirklen Petkau-Desjardin who was wanted on several outstanding warrants.  Petkau-Desjardin was held in custody and has since been sentenced for several offences on two court files.

On August 7, 2026, an investigation into a report of a stolen vehicle was conducted by CRU which led to the arrest of three individuals and the recovery of a stolen truck. The alleged driver Gregory O’Neill was arrested and charged with possession of stolen property over $5000.  He remains in custody awaiting a bail hearing.

As part of the investigation the CRU also arrested Kale Skjeie who was wanted on warrants from Salmon Arm and remains in custody awaiting a bail hearing, along with Chasidy Gallant who was also arrested on an outstanding warrant.

“This was an exceptionally productive week for our Crime Reduction Unit,” said Superintendent Jeff Pelley, Officer in Charge in the Kamloops RCMP Detachment.  “Their efforts resulted in the arrest of multiple wanted individuals, and the recovery of stolen property.  These outcomes reflect our ongoing commitment to proactively targeting offenders and improving public safety throughout Kamloops.”

The Kamloops RCMP Detachment would like to acknowledge the assistance from the Tk’emlúps Rural RCMP Detachment officers in assisting with the investigation for a safe outcome.
