The Kamloops RCMP Detachment has made an arrested an alleged suspect in relation to an arson which occurred yesterday evening.
On September 2, 2026, just before 6:00 p.m., a frontline police officer observed a fire and requested Kamloops Fire Rescue to attend to the 1700-block of Kelly Douglas Road. Kamloops Fire Rescue was able to bring the fire under control and remined on scene monitoring hot spots throughout the night.
“The Kamloops RCMP Detachment General Investigation Support Team is assisting with investigating the events that led up to the fire starting,” said Corporal Dana Napier, spokesperson for the Kamloops RCMP Detachment. “The alleged suspect was arrested and later released pending the outcome of the investigation.”
Police are asking anyone that may have been in the area at the time the fire broke out, or who may have information related to the fire to please contact the Kamloops RCMP Detachment at 250-828-3000 or Crime Stoppers at 1800-222-8477 (TIPS) and cite file 2026-29393.
