A collision that occurred yesterday evening required police and ambulance after a vehicle went off the road and down an embankment.
On October 27, 2026, at approximately 6:40 p.m., police received a cell phone crash detection and received multiple reports that a vehicle had gone off Highway 1 near the 3900-block by Cherry Creek. The grey Ford Focus was reported to be travelling East on Highway 1 and went off road to the right and then down an embankment of approximately 60ft.
Kamloops and Tk’emlúps Rural RCMP Detachment frontline police along with multiple BC Ambulance units, Kamloops Fire Rescue, and New Afton Mine Rescue all responded to the crash. BC Highway Patrol attended to assist with the investigation.
“There were five occupants in the vehicle, all five occupants were transported to the hospital where two remain in critical condition,” said Corporal Dana Napier, spokesperson for the Tk’emlúps Rural RCMP Detachment. “The cause of the crash is still being investigated, however, at this time impairment was not a factor in the crash.”
Anyone that may have been on the highway near the time and that has dash camera footage of the grey Ford Focus going off road is asked to please contact the Tk’emlúps Rural RCMP Detachment at 250-314-1800 and cite file 2026-36059.
