A man and woman have been arrested after an alleged robbery with a firearm and flight from police.

On October 24, 2026, at approximately 10:45 p.m., Tk’emlúps Rural RCMP Detachment frontline police received a report of a robbery at gun point at a convenience store in the 7000-block of Trans Canada Highway near Savona.  It is alleged the two suspects wore masks and pointed a gun at a clerk and demanded the cash register and cigarettes before fleeing in a white pick-up truck.

“Multiple units attended to support Tk’emlúps RCMP Rural Detachment frontline police, including Police Dog Services (PDS), Kamloops RCMP and police from the Crime Reduction Unit,” said Corporal Dana Napier, spokesperson for the Kamloops RCMP.  “The vehicle was located and one suspect was arrested nearby, however, the other suspect lead PDS on an extensive track and was eventually also taken into custody.”

As part of the investigation, police seized a firearm, cash and property from the store. Krystal Long and Sheldon Power have been charged with robbery with a prohibited firearm, disguising face during the commission of an offence, and resisting a police officer.  Power has also been charged with failing to stop for a peace officer. Both Long and Power remain in custody awaiting bail hearings.

As this is now before the courts no further information will be released.
