Kamloops RCMP - Online Crime Reporting
Online Crime Reporting (OCR) is a way that people can report some types of non-emergent crimes and Hate Motivated Incidents (HMI) without having to call the police or visit a detachment.
Citizens are able to report the following crimes online:
- Damage/mischief to property under $5,000
- Theft of bicycle under $5,000
- Theft under $5,000 (reports for thefts over $5,000 are accepted from oil, telecommunications, and utility companies.)
- Theft from vehicle under $5,000
- Lost property
- Hate Motivated Incidents (HMI):
A HMI is a non-criminal action, motivated in whole or in part by the suspect’s hate, bias or prejudice towards an identifiable group based on real or perceived colour, race, religion, national or ethnic origin, age, sex, sexual identity, gender identity or expression, mental or physical disability, or any other similar factor.
Incidents must also satisfy the following conditions to be reported online:
- No witnesses or suspects
- Item(s) lost or stolen must cost less than $5,000
- Vandalized property will cost less than $5,000 to repair
- There are no items involving personal identity, firearms, licence plates or decals
