On March 26, 2026, at approximately 11:30 am, Kelowna RCMP responded to a report of a robbery and vehicle theft near Bredin Road and Kent Road.

Police learned that while out for a road test with a customer’s vehicle, staff of a nearby automotive shop was approached by an unknown male individual who allegedly produced a weapon and stole the vehicle. The suspect then fled the area, leaving the shop employee on the side of the road. The RCMP Operational Communication Center (911 dispatch) continued to receive and broadcast information from additional responding officers where a man with a similar description attempted to forcefully take further vehicles.

Frontline officers, supported by the Proactive Enforcement Unit, Crime Reduction Unit, Target Team, School Resource Officer Unit, and Integrated Crisis Response Team, quickly mobilized to track the suspect as he travelled northbound through Kelowna towards Rutland.

Kelowna Detachment officers located the male individual in the 3000-block of Sexsmith Road, after they he allegedly broken into a residence and then attempted to flee in a vehicle. Police took him into custody without incident and worked tirelessly for the remainder of the day collecting evidence. The Kelowna RCMP General Investigation Section has taken conduct of the investigation.

Conrad Loss-Wells of Kelowna appeared in court on March 27, 2026, where charges of robbery, break and enter, forcible confinement, mischief, assault and obstructing a Peace Officer were approved. Loss-Wells remains in custody pending his next scheduled court appearance on April 2, 2026.

“Kelowna Detachment Officers from across the community quickly mobilized to bring a volatile situation to a safe conclusion,” said Corporal Steven Lang, Kelowna RCMP Media Relations Officer. “This speaks to the training and professionalism of Kelowna Detachment officers which work tirelessly to keep the community safe.”
