Kelowna RCMP investigating fatal weekend pedestrian involved collision

The Kelowna RCMP is investigating a fatal pedestrian involved collision which occurred at approximately 1:30 pm, Sunday, July 26, 2026, on Benvoulin Road, near Rampone Road.
Police responded to assist BC Emergency Health Services with a collision between a chartered bus and individual in a mobility scooter. The individual in the scooter was transported to hospital with serious injuries and tragically succumbed to their injuries. None of the occupants of the bus were injured.
“The victim was a 97-year-old male living in Kelowna at the time of the collision,” says Corporal Steven Lang, Kelowna RCMP Media Relations Officer. “We offer our condolences to the family.”
An RCMP collision reconstructionist was called to the scene to assist with examining and documenting the scene. Criminality and impairment are not believed to have contributed to the cause of the collision.
"We wish to express our sincere appreciation to the individuals who stopped to render assistance at the scene,” continued Corporal Lang. “If you have been affected by this incident and require support, please contact the Kelowna RCMP Detachment. Our Victim Services team is available to provide compassionate and professional assistance during this difficult time."
This is an ongoing investigation and the RCMP is asking any members of the public who have yet to talk to police but may have dashcam video of the collision to please contact the Kelowna RCMP General Investigation Section at 250-762-3300 and reference the file number 2026-47361.
