Kelowna RCMP seeks public’s help to reunite recovered bicycles with their owners

Kelowna RCMP are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the owners of bicycles recovered during recent police investigations.

Talaria e-dirt bike found abandoned

On July 30, 2026, staff at a retail store in the 2100-block of Baron Road reported locating a black Talaria e-dirt bike that had been left on the property overnight. RCMP attended and seized the e-dirt bike for safekeeping at the Kelowna RCMP Detachment.

The associated police file number is 2026-48297.

Kona Dew commuter bike recovered during break and enter investigation

On August 18, 2026, Kelowna RCMP responded to a break and enter at a multi-family residential building. Investigators located a black Kona Dew commuter-style bicycle that had been left behind by individuals allegedly involved in the offence.

Police also recovered a black MEC Lynx mountain bike during the investigation and have since identified and returned it to its rightful owner.

The associated police file number is 2026-53241.

Stolen e-bike returned to owner

Through a recent investigation, the Kelowna RCMP Crime Reduction Unit recovered a green and black Biktrix e-bike with a unique accessory attached. Investigators were able to identify and locate the rightful owner through registration records on file with the dealer, and the bicycle was returned.

Tips to Help Protect and Recover Your Bicycle

Kelowna RCMP reminds the public to record serial numbers and other unique identifying features of valuable property, including bicycles. Taking photographs of items and retaining proof of purchase can greatly assist police in identifying recovered property and returning it to its owners.

Bicycle owners are also encouraged to register their bikes with Project 529 Garage, a community-based bicycle registry designed to help deter theft and improve the chances of recovering stolen bicycles. The program offers a unique shield decal that can be attached to bicycles and recognized by both the public and law enforcement.

“Police are committed to returning recovered property to their rightful owners,” says Corporal Steven Lang, Kelowna RCMP Media Relations Officer. “The public can help by taking proactive measures to protect their bikes, including documenting identifying features, keeping proof of purchase, and registering with Project 529 Garage. Those steps can be invaluable when it comes to identifying and recovering stolen property.”
