On September 1, 2025, Kimberley RCMP were alerted by a GPS SOS that 3 hikers went over Meachen Creek Falls.
Frontline officers responded and located one of the 3 people halfway down the falls.
Unfortunately, that person, a woman, was deceased. The death is not considered suspicious.
Kimberley Search and Rescue, Bighorn Helicopters, the RCMP’s Police Dog Services and the use of a drone were engaged in the search.
The RCMP continue to search for the other missing people as well as support the BC Coroner Service during their investigation.
Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the deceased.
