Suspicious death in Lake Country under police investigation

BC RCMP’s Major Crime Section has been called to Lake Country after a man was discovered deceased.

On December 25, 2025 shortly after 9:30 p.m., Lake Country RCMP responded to the 16000-block of Gatzke Road in Lake Country. Upon arrival, police learned that 43-year-old Joseph Robert McCook was deceased and foul play is suspected. As such, the BC RCMP Major Crime Unit (MCU) has taken conduct of the investigation.

A photo of Joseph McCook is being released to further the investigation, and police are looking for public assistance in determining the circumstances that led to Joseph’s death. Anyone with information that has yet to speak to police is asked to call the MCU information line at 1-877-987-8477.
