Langley RCMP respond to fatal structure fire

On January 7, 2026, at approximately 6:57 a.m., Langley RCMP responded to a report of a structure fire in the area of the 6500 block of 248 Street, Langley.

Firefighters from the Township of Langley Fire Department arrived to find the structure fully engulfed in flames. Tragically, a 15-year-old youth was located deceased inside the home.

“This is a heartbreaking tragedy, and our thoughts are with the family and friends of the deceased during this incredibly difficult time,” said Sergeant Zynal Sharoom of the Langley RCMP.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation; however, there is no indication of criminality at this time. The BC Coroners Service and fire investigators continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
