On May 18, 2026, at approximately 2:30pm, Maple Ridge RCMP responded to a report of four-year-old child that had fallen from a second story window in the 11700 block of 236 Street.
Upon police officers’ arrival, emergency health services were attending to the child who was later transported to hospital via air ambulance. He is currently in stable condition with serious injuries.
Officers spoke with multiple individuals on scene, including the distraught parents of the child, and secured any possible evidence. Based on initial investigation, the incident appears to be an unfortunate accident. No signs of foul play or criminality were identified. The investigation is ongoing.
As we head into the warmer months of the year, Maple Ridge RCMP joins other first responders in advising the public to ensure that their windows and doors are properly secured and consider installing safety devices to prevent accidental falls. Taking a few simple steps like installing window guards and moving furniture away from windows could make all the difference in having a safe summer.
