A Maple Ridge RCMP officer and a dedicated community volunteer have both been officially recognized by the BC RCMP for their outstanding contributions to public safety.
The awards were presented yesterday morning at the BC RCMP's Honors & Recognition Awards ceremony, which celebrates officers, staff, volunteers, and civilians from across the province.
Maple Ridge RCMP Constable Avinesh Bali received the prestigious St. John Lifesaving Certificate for his actions during a medical emergency. On January 6, 2025, Constable Bali and former Maple Ridge RCMP Constable Dave Letwin provided assistance and administered first aid to a 75-year-old male who was in cardiac arrest at the Pitt Meadows Recreation Centre.
Maple Ridge RCMP volunteer John Petty received a Sovereign’s Medal for Volunteers for his 35 years of volunteer service with the RCMP. John has dedicated himself to raising public awareness of road safety in Maple Ridge and is a key player in the Speed Watch program mentoring countless volunteers in the process.
“Maple Ridge RCMP is incredibly proud to see some of our team recognized for their outstanding dedication to public safety,” says Maple Ridge RCMP Officer in Charge Supt. Martin Guay. “From life-saving efforts to decades of commitments, these individuals are making a tangible difference in our community and are a true representation of the vital work that goes on every day at our detachment.”
Congratulations to all the award recipients and their important contributions to public safety.
