This year’s Cops for Cancer, Tour de Valley, spent Thursday afternoon riding through Mission, and made stops at various locations around town, including at the Mission RCMP detachment.
19 dedicated riders, escorted by an equally amazing support crew, continue their quest to raise awareness and funds for pediatric cancer research and Camp Goodtimes. After riding the notorious hills of Mission – including up Hurd Street from Lougheed Highway, and all the way to the top of Cedar Street – the riders pulled in to the Mission RCMP detachment on September 17, 2026, where they shared stories and enjoyed some refreshments before carrying on their way. While there, Mission RCMP’s new Officer in Charge, Inspector Ray Monsef, had a chance to meet the riders and learn a bit about the ride:
“It was a truly inspiring event,” says Inspector Monsef. “Even after riding hundreds of kilometres over the past few days, including the hills in Mission in the hot afternoon sun, every one of those riders arrived with a smile on their face, and an amazing sense of purpose. It was obvious that they all had one goal in mind – helping children with cancer – and that each and every one of them was determined to make a difference. It was an honour to meet the riders, and I encourage everyone to learn about the cause, make a donation if you can, and cheer on the team if you see them elsewhere along their journey.”
After leaving Mission, the riders – including their motorcade of police motorcycles, an ambulance, and other support vehicles – rode into Abbotsford, and will continue bringing their message and inspiration to communities in the eastern Fraser Valley during the following days.
