The BC Law Enforcement Memorial Ride to Remember is coming to Mission on Thursday, September 24!
Every year, the BC Law Enforcement Memorial Ride to Remember (R2R) embarks on a 3-day memorial ride to help remember fallen officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. This year, 58 cyclists, made up of peace officers from numerous different law enforcement agencies, will ride over 400 kilometres over the span of three days. This represents 3 kilometres for each of the 135 fallen officers whose names are on the law enforcement memorial, knows as the Bastion, which sits on the lawn of the BC Legislature in Victoria. Their journey will take them from Vancouver to Chilliwack, then from Chilliwack to Delta, then along the east coast of Vancouver Island, finishing at the Legislature in Victoria.
Keep an eye out for the riders as they travel east from Maple Ridge on the morning of September 24, arriving at the Mission RCMP detachment around 12 pm, before continuing on their journey to Chilliwack. The riders love seeing people along their route, cheering and waving them on, so if you see them while they’re riding, please give them some encouragement! Everyone is also welcome to come by the Mission detachment around noon on Thursday, to see their motorcade, wave them in, and take photos with the riders.
