Mission RCMP Crime Reduction Unit

The Mission RCMP Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) focuses on identifying, targeting, investigating, disrupting, and dismantling individuals and groups involved in crime that negatively impacts the safety of our community.

This includes:

  • Drug trafficking networks
  • Organized crime activity
  • Repeat offenders and prolific criminals
  • Other high-risk activities contributing to community harm

The unit takes a proactive approach, working to reduce crime before it escalates and to improve overall public safety in the District of Mission.

Why is this work important?

Criminal activity associated with drug trafficking and organized crime has significant impacts on the community beyond the immediate offences.

These impacts can include:

  • Increased violence and presence of weapons
  • Property damage and unsafe residences
  • Increased theft and related crime
  • Exploitation of vulnerable individuals
  • Negative effects on families and neighbourhood safety

Illicit drug trafficking, particularly involving substances such as fentanyl, methamphetamine, cocaine, and other illicit drugs, continues to be a serious concern in the Fraser Valley due to its connection to overdoses, addiction, and organized crime.

Drug trafficking in our community – How you can help

Illegal drug activity can affect neighbourhoods in many ways. Residents may notice:

  • Unusual or frequent short-term traffic to and from a residence
  • Suspicious activity at all hours of the day or night
  • Noise disturbances or safety concerns
  • Evidence of drug use or discarded materials
  • General concerns about criminal activity in the area

Community members play an important role in helping police identify and address these issues.

What can I do if I suspect drug trafficking or criminal activity?

If you suspect drug trafficking or other criminal activity in your neighbourhood, you can provide valuable information to police in two ways:

All information provided is handled with care, and your privacy will be protected.

While this information is extremely valuable, it’s important to understand that investigations into drug trafficking and organized crime are often complex. Police action may take time as officers work to gather evidence and ensure enforcement is carried out safely and effectively.
